I AM CAPABLE.
I think we can be honest and say we don’t enjoy turbulence in our lives. It does not feel good. But usually, it is during those moments where we identify how capable we are. Imagine being a young child and your caregiver is attempting to teach you something like swimming, riding a bike, cooking a dish, or just asking you to try something you have not done before. Naturally you are resistant and may make a fuss about the challenges it presents. But they encourage you and stay with you until eventually you figure it out. You may not have recognized it then, but this is teaching you something about your capabilities.
I like to refer to capabilities like going up stairs, you have to start at the bottom and take one step at a time. Once you show yourself that you can go up one stair then you’ve started building self-trust and can begin to climb the rest of the stairs. Everyone’s process will look different, but the goal is the same, to climb. I have created a phrase and will help in times when you don’t feel as capable as you would like. The phrase goes like this.
Can
Accomplish
Peace
And
Bravely
Live
Enlighted.
Believing that you can accomplish what you need to, have peace in your life, live fearlessly and self-aware is something we all aspire to. To help us believe this we need to feel that there is some proof in our lives, correct? When we take time to reflect on all the obstacles we’ve overcome and the accomplishments we’ve had big or small helps point to the proof that our brains are looking for. Sometimes we need others to assist us and sometimes we can remember and record things on our own to help us establish just how capable we are.
I notice many people getting stuck on what they feel is an accomplishment or isn’t. Or perhaps they have normalized their pain and do not see themselves as overcoming as many obstacles as they probably have. We don’t always give ourselves credit for how far we’ve come. It’s no surprise that being alive is hard and we are faced with so many hurdles that it takes strength to be alive. I believe if you are here today that means you have some hope and are much more capable than you realize.
This blog is meant to encourage you and remind you that you have what it takes to make it to the destination you are aiming for. Knowing where you want to go is the first step. Once you know, do not let life discourage you. Sometimes we fall, sometimes we fail, but we don’t quit on ourselves. We have the opportunity to learn so much from the experiences we’d rather not have. With new information we could be redirected to somewhere more beautiful than we imagined.
It’s never too late to start again, to learn, to grow. If you are reading this, I ask you to take this message and let hope bubble up within you because you are CAPABLE.
Talk soon,
